On Friday, February 26, 2021, the grade seven students participated in the HWCDSB annual Diversity Conference.
Our Catholic schools are called to be places of hope, places where the wondrous diversity of all people is celebrated, places where prejudice is not tolerated. Our HWCDSB Catholic School Community is called to help build a world of justice, compassion and peace. The Elementary Diversity Conference is a small part of this good work.
The grade seven students participated in many different activities that focused on equality and fairness within our schools and communities. They discovered that as young adults they can use ‘their own two hands’ to represent Jesus’ work on earth. The grade sevens watched and reflected on many videos and songs, created ‘ism’ skits, played Diversity Jeopardy and shared in numerous discussions to help them recognize the importance and value of diversity in our Catholic communities.
