About Our School
St. James the Apostle Catholic Elementary School was officially blessed and opened by the Most Reverend Paul F. Reding, Bishop of Hamilton, on Sunday, June 13, 1976.
When the Gold Key was presented to Mr. Jack Antolich, the first principal, a school community opened the door to years of outstanding achievement. From the outset, St. James established high standards and goals. This is clearly reflected in the school’s inspiring motto: Amor Doctrinae Floreat: Let the Love of Knowledge Flourish.
In the past forty years, St. James the Apostle School has had ten principals: Mr. Jack Antolich, Mr. Ed Safranyos, Ms. Pat McNeice, Mr. Remo Presutti, Ms. Dianne Brenner, Mr. John Shkopiak, Mrs. Mary Anilowski, Mr. Domenic LaBianca, Mr. Marc De Angelis, Mr. Philip Oliveria and our present Principal, Mrs. Elena Minicucci. They together with the past pastors of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and the present pastor, Father David Reitzer and Associate Pastor Father Scott Whitefield have led the community of St. James the Apostle School with different gifts but on the same path. St. James the Apostle School has walked faithfully and tirelessly on this path for almost four decades. May God give it strength to continue with its journey of Catholic education.
